ensembleKOM is a group of thirteen musicians, all members of the orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin, who share a common desire to play and perform chamber music and chamber opera in groups of all sizes and venues of all types. Within this framework, we put a strong emphasis on working with actors and singers, concerts for and with children, and a more informative and relaxed performance atmosphere, which brings musicians and audience closer together.
Our repertoire encompasses both popular and lesser known works for chamber ensemble, and we are especially committed to performing works written in the last fifty years. The name of our ensemble is not just a reference to the Komische Oper –
it also stands for what we consider to be the most important aspects of music-making: communication first and foremost, but also combination, commitment, commentary, compatible and compact.
